In a recent blood test, my TRIGLYCERIDES value has come at 489 mg/dl when the normal range is between 25-200. What could be the reason for such a high value, what could be the cause, what effect does this have and how to reduce it towards normal range? Regards.

Hello Mr. lybrate-user. Your triglyceride level is very high. It means you have been taking food which is very rich in saturated fat. High triglyceride levels may lead to atherosclerosis of arteries which in turn may lead to blockage of arteries. I would advise you to follow a very strict diet and avoid eating oily and greasy food. Also you will be required to take medicine for reducing the triglyceride level. If you want a prescription for that you can message me or consult your physician.
