Hello lybrate user hdl is protective lipoprotein for cardiovascular diseases. Meaning by which having a good hdl level is protective in itself but the reverse is not true. Many people have this misconception that having a low hdl level will harm them in some way. But having a low hdl level means that you have less protection it doesn't mean that you are at risk. Not having protection versus being at risk are two very opposite things. As you pointed out that your ldl level is 119. The optimum level for anybody is less than 100 and in case of diabetics the level should be less than 70. Having a high ldl level is indeed indicative of risk. Ldl is the bad cholesterol, it needs to be curbed. For this purpose either you can make diet adjustments or you can take medicine.
