Lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. Hypothyroidism is a thyroxine hormone deficiency disorder. It means your thyroid is not able to secrete adequate amount of that hormone. Hence, it needs to be supplemented from outside. Therefore, the treatment is for lifetime. There is no question of stopping treatment on your own choice. The symptoms described are all due to uncontrolled hypothyroidism. With adequate dosage of Levothyroxine TSH has to be maintained around 3 to 4 mU/L. Then only all the symptoms are in check. Hair loss is the last to ge get controlled. I hope you understand. Further, after marriage, if one wants to have a baby, then it is absolutely essential to control TSH < 2 mU/L before getting conception and during the gestational period, TSH has to be maintained around 2 to mU/L.
