I am Sujatha aged 54 years and weight 79 kg. I am having hypothyroidism for the past 7-8 years. I got menopause 3 years back. I'm taking Thyronorm 50 mcg tablets daily. I am doing brisk walking daily for one hour. I am a housewife and I am doing moderate housework daily at home. The problem I have is bulged stomach ie fat belly. Last year only I did my master health check up and everything is normal. What is the reason for my fat belly? I am eating a low calorie diet only regularly and avoid oils and sugar.

You can reduce upto 15 kgs if you take a regulated low calorie diet. You may feel you are eating less, but your overall calories count may be excessive. You need to take a 1400 calorie/day diet that can help you lose weight consistently. Hypothyroidism only contributes about 2-3 kgs body weight, rest you can reduce.

Continue with your exercise and diet. Also do some stretching and abdominal exercises daily Abdominal bulge is due to abdominal fat and also due to LAX abdominal muscles. Stretching and abdominal exercises will strengthen your abdominal muscles thus reducing abdominal bulge.
