Hello lybrate-user. Some times as a normal person one might feel cosmetically one or two teeth are not in right position and rest are fine. Which may or may not be correct. Let your dentist (orthodontist) evaluate the aesthetic and functional aspect and he/she can guide you better. On the other hand there will not be any visible change in the position of gums within a week of treatment and if so its not about the braces not suitable for you but a better treatment planning is required. So just sit wit your dentist and share your concern he/she can guide you regarding the oral status and guide you accordingly.

Stop worrying. Gums receding and inflammation will happen when you have not brushed closer to your gums. After placement of braces, usually food particles, and plaque get retained near the bracket making gums more susceptible to inflammation. But the problem can be solved. No. 1 talk to your orthodontist, no. 2 use a soft bristle brush for brushing, no 3 most importantly, change your brushing technique to modified bass, no 4 use salt water rinses or freshclor mouthwash immediately after your meal, no 5 always brush at night, no massage gums with gumpaints like tan x, stolin etc, no 6 avoid sticky and sugary food and beverages.

Hi. The receding and inflammation of gums is more likely due to poor oral hygiene. Many patients undergoing orthodontic treatment face this problem initially as braces make it a bit difficult to maintain your oral hygiene properly, especially in the initial days. You can use a fluoride mouthwash and specially designed orthodontic brushes to brush your teeth. Don't worry and continue with your orthodontic treatment. All the best.
