Hi lybrate-user, There is no fixed time range for sitting. It varies according to habits. But you must have consult Orthopaedic Surgeon to find out the cause of back pain. You have not quoted your age. Have X-ray done of your back. In the mean time avoid sitting on ground. Does it pain even on sitting in a chair? Is there any pain while walking? Does the pain increase on forward bending?
