My total cholesterol levels are around 220 for the last 20 years but I am not taking any medication. I am taking Telma 20 for hypertension on alternate days. Taking Rosavit 5 upsets my stomach as I underwent major stomach surgeries in 2013. What medication do you suggest for cholesterol as my triglycerides are around 450 and is it Ok to take BP medication regularly but on alternate days. What can be the best medication for cholesterol or diet and exercise regime you suggest Regards Kapil Tewari.

You do not require medicines for high triglycerides. Reduce food items like sugar jaggery alcohol wheat rice potatoes that are converted into triglycerides by liver. Take traditional health foods like nuts eggs butter etc. Cholesterol level up to 320 is healthy. See my health tip on cholesterol and lipid profile on Lybrate for more information.
