When child is hungry, he shall definitely like to eat but of his own choice rather yours. It is just possible that you may be forcing your choice. Give him all edible well nutritious items prepared at home of his choice including milk and its products. Sucking of fingers must have started at his early age for the reason he may have not been given food of his choice and kept hungry. I hope this may help.
